TRANSITIONS |
✱ THIS WORKSHOP CAN BE TAUGHT FOR TWO LEVELS : SUSPENSION OR PARTIAL-SUSPENSION, DEPENDING ON THE ORGANISER’S PREFERENCE. A COMBINATION OF BOTH CAN ALSO BE CONSIDERED.
In shibari, a transition refers to the movement from one position to another. A transition can be explored with varying degrees of gradualness or, conversely, abruptness; this depends on the intention we aim to convey to the tied person. Transitions are often associated with dynamic styles and less frequently with semenawa (tormenting ropes). We will investigate suspension sequences and discover how they can be tied and adapted to these two very different types of energies.
✱ This workshop lasts two days, but a shorter one-day version is also possible. |
